New JC Scholars with Undergraduate Scholarship Attend Induction Camp
2024-06-17
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarships awarded 27 JC Scholars with the Undergraduate Scholarship this year. These newly awarded JC Scholars attended a two-day induction camp on 15 and 16 June 2024, as part of the comprehensive induction programme, which provided a tailored experience to enable them to get acquainted and build strong bonds among themselves.
During the induction camp, JC Scholars participated in a series of activities designed to deepen their understanding of the vision of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarships. The activities also encouraged them to reflect on the four attributes expected from JC Scholars: intellect, character, leadership, and commitment to service.
The activities included:
Workshops on media ecology and AI aimed at exploring the role of communication tools in the digital and AI-driven era, with the goal of encouraging JC Scholars to critically analyse social issues from multiple perspectives.
Two challenging adventure games designed to test the JC Scholars' courage and teamwork, fostering group cohesion and trust.
"Human Library" sessions enabled JC Scholars to learn from professionals with diverse experiences.
Group project to identify a pressing social issue and develop strategies to tackle it.
Having successfully completed the induction camp, the JC Scholars are now ready to join forces with like-minded partners in their future journey to make contributions to society.
Feedback from JC Scholars
Becoming a JC Scholar has given me a lot of encouragement. At the induction camp, I worked with many talented JC Scholars who gave me new insights into different topics and values. This bonding in the JC Scholars community will benefit my growth.
I used to be afraid of doing sports because I got hurt in the past. However, this time I felt less worried and completed the climbing challenge with the support and guidance from my teammates.
A speaker with a music background, who is now conducting research on the technology landscape, has inspired me the most. She truly demonstrates that the sky is the limit.
